BEFORE THE SESSION
How to prep your body.
- Start exfoliating the skin 2 weeks before the appointment and stop a week before. *do not exfoliate within 3 days.
- Moisturize your skin everyday for a week leading up to the tattoo session.
- Stay out of the sun. If you have a sunburn we may need to reschedule.
- Take a shower and use deodorant if necessary.
- You may come in shaved but be careful not to nick yourself.
Will I be able to see the drawing/mock-up?
- Short answer is no. A consultation is recommended for custom work and that should provide enough clarity before the drawing process begins. When you are in search of artists, choose one whose style is consistent to your ideas; this will minimize the margin of error and strengthen the trust that is shared between artist and receiver.
How do I reschedule/cancel?
- Reschedule requests are accepted no later than 1 week prior to the set appointment. A request submitted sooner than 1 week will forfeit the session's deposit and you will be required to submit a new deposit.

Can I use numbing cream?
- Numbing cream tends to harden the skin which may also affect the details of the tattoo as well as heal it differently. Alternatively, we offer a numbing spray that functions once the skin has been opened. For smaller and medium tattoos, this method is favored.
SESSION DAY
Where is the shop located?
-Chopstick Tattoo is located in 1001 Waimanu st suite C, Honolulu, HI, 96814
Further instructions will be provided individually to each confirmed client.
How early can I go to the shop?
-You are welcome to come to the space no earlier than 15 minutes and no later than 30 minutes after the set session. In some occasions, the appointment prior to your session may run later than anticipated; you will be informed of this.
Can I bring other people with me to the shop?
-Yes. People are welcome to join you during your appointment. We only ask that you be mindful of other artists and clients undergoing their own sessions.
Can I bring food?
-Yes. There are great food options in the vicinity so you are always welcomed to stop during the session for a quick bite.
Can I bring blankets and pillows?
-Yes. Feel free to bring and wear whatever your need to feel comfortable and safe during your appointment.
What if I don't like the design?
-You are welcome to speak with your artist on revisions as well as reschedule the appointment. Please feel safe to communicate what you need.
What if I can't finish the appointment?
-You are not obliged to complete the piece in one session. Please feel safe to inform your artist of your capacity, and we are happy to accommodate.
AFTERCARE

Wash with non-scented soap and water (2x per day; morning and nighttime).

Apply a thin coat of non-scented lotion after washing. Oils and ointments not recommended.

Keep out of the sun until healed.

Do no scratch or pick at the skin once it begins to peel.
LONGEVITY

Wear mineral-based, zinc free sunscreen whenever the tattoo will be exposed to the sun for extended periods (after the tattoo has completely healed.)
